30-Hour Famine!
Date: February 18 and 19 (Saturday and Sunday)
Sobering Facts:
Since the ‘Famine’ started in 1992, the total number of kids who die each day from all causes has been slashed by one-third (dropping from 34,000 to 22,000)!
Every day, hunger-related causes kill as many as 11,000 kids younger than 5 years old.
Every $30 raised can help feed and care for a child for one month.
What is 30-Hour Famine?
Every year thousands of participants around the world fight hunger and save lives with the ‘Famine’. It is an event that supports the incredible ministries of World Vision. Participants:
safely fast for 30 hours so they can experience, if even for a short time, the pangs of hunger that over 1 billion people in this world feel every day
drink juice on a regular schedule (nothing acidic like orange juice or pineapple juice)
learn about hunger
participate in service projects and create “Manna Bags”
go on a cRaZy virtual tour of various countries through an interactive game called “Tribe”
raise money to help alleviate hunger by inviting friends/family to the “Break-the-Fast” Dinner on February 19th at 5:30pm. If people cannot attend the dinner they can still financially support this cause. They may write checks in any amount and make them payable to “Cypress Trails UMC” with “30-Hour Famine” in Memo Line. The youth have made a goal to raise $500!!
Is fasting safe?

Church groups are hosted at a church where we eat our meals, sleep, attend worship and play games and various activities. Students are divided into Color Groups. After breakfast, each CG goes into the community to serve those in need with basic repairs, cleaning and yard work, etc. It is an awesome experience!
